Where to Eat
The menu offers a selection of dishes with of fresh water fish like rice with shrimp, river fish like marinated eel or meat dishes like the succulent Florentine beef stew made with red wine. Other enticing main dishes include sautéed pigeon, baked spinach flan with liver and Marsala wine, and sautéed rabbit with sun dried tomatoes. Interesting hors d'oeuvre like beans with tripe or a pecorino cheese baked flan with wood scents are also on the menu. Numerous pasta dishes like "gnudi" or gnocchetti (little potato dumplings) prepared with ricotta and spinach and topped with butter and pecorino cheese or spaghetti with mullets are just two of the unique selections that the menu offers. The new manager, Luisella, has elaborated an alternative cuisine to that of the classic territorial dishes. Fish and meat specialties are prevalent in this restaurant. For starters try the marinated anchovies and continue with a plate of "malloreddus", typical pasta dish in the shape of tiny dumplings or "taglierini" (long thin noodles) with seafood and shellfish. For those who prefer fish, try the "Villa di Quartu" shrimp dish while for meat or poultry lovers the pork prepared with Sardinian cream or chicken breast with Oristano white wine. For dessert, Sardinian torroncini (nougat) or seada (fried pastry) with honey might entice your taste buds. One can also order, with advance reservations only, a dish of exquisite fish soup or grilled lobster "Santa Tennera".
