Florence is one of those cities that are best explored on foot, giving you the chance to absorb the atmosphere found on the stone streets, among the local people. Providing a wealth of attractions to easily fill up a couple of days of sightseeing, this romantic city draws in couples from all over the world to confess their love to one another on the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge that runs across the River Arno, weaving through the city.

Ponte Vecchio (old bridge)
On an international level, Florence is recognised as a city that produces top quality Italian leather goods, beautiful jewellery, high fashion and a multitude of artistic craftworks. Add to this the best selection of Florence luxury hotels, vibrant restaurants and a cultural package that will keep you in and out of museums all day long and you’ll have no problem understanding why Florence is seen as a major cultural experience not to be missed.

Here are some of the top places to visit when arriving in Florence for the very first time;
One of the best places to begin your sightseeing tour is in Piazza del Duomo, where you can take in the delightful sights of the great Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, featuring the famous dome by Brunelleschi. It is well worth a look inside the Cathedral to see the inside of the dome before taking in the bronze Gates of Paradise at the Baptisery and Giottos Bell Tower which offers some of the best views across the city.

Next on our list is the political centre of Florence where you can stand in the Piazza della Signora before heading over to the governmental headquarters at the magnificent Palazzo Vecchio. From here you can easily take in the Loggia della Signora museum to look at the many beautiful statues created by Benvenuto Cellini. As you continue on your way down the Via Calzaiuoli there are plenty more photographic opportunities as you pass the admirable majesty of the Church of Orsanmichele, surrounded by several great statues that were hand crafted by some of Italy’s most famous artists, including Donatello and Verrocchio.
Firenze Duomo
For museum lovers, you will not want to miss the Uffizi Gallery which is within easy reach of the Palazzo Vecchio. House to one of the world’s biggest collection of Renaissance artwork, including the Spring and Birth of Venus by Botticelli you’ll be best advised to purchase your tickets in advance to avoid the crowds. From here you can take the Vasari Corridor to reach the famous old bridge – the Ponte Vecchio which is steeped in deep history, connecting the riverbanks at this exact location for centuries and providing the perfect location for thousands of proposals and confessions of undying love to romantic couples
Take a stroll hand in hand across the bridge before taking in the sights of the many goldsmith shops that line the streets into the Oltarno area. As you come to the great Pitti Palace you are spoilt for choice with a delightful selection of museums to visit including the Modern Art Gallery and Palatine Gallery which back onto the stunning Boboli Gardens.
From the gardens you can take a pleasant walk to the Piazza Santo Spirito to enjoy some local Tuscan food and drink with great views of the Church of Santo Spirito standing majestically tall over the square.
Santa Maria Novella
A visit to Florence would not be complete without taking in the Santa Maria Novella Church which is situated off the northern riverbank and set within a newly revived square. Complete with the magnificent Tornabuoni Chapel, this masterpiece should be on everyone’s list.

To complete your tour of the city before heading back to the comfort of your private jet, why not head on over to the square of Piazzale Michaelangelo at dusk to witness the sun setting down over the city you have just spent exploring. Set high up on a hill it’s easy to identify the amazing landmarks you have visited and makes for the perfect memorable photo opportunity.

For those who want to visit the centre and arrive in Florence by car, we can suggest a few free parking lots available around the city.

Parking
your car at no charge is not so easy in Florence, only the residents have the right to drive around and park their cars in the city centre.
If, instead, you want to leave your car in the centre, there are some private parking lots where you have to pay. If you plan to stay in Florence for more days it is more convenient and cheaper to stay at a Hotel in Florence that has its own parking place.
Free parking lots are outside the city centre, near the main roads and highway junctions, where you can find connections to Florence center by bus or public transport. These parking lots can be an excellent solution for those who visit Florence for one day only.

PARKING PIAZZALE MICHELANGELO:
The free parking lot of Piazzale Michelangelo is located in the homonymous square looking over Florence. It is generally quite full, but with a bit of chance you can find a spot: in the morning, more places are available. Ponte Vecchio (the famous bridge) is at 30 minutes (on foot), or with bus number 13 that takes you to Santa Maria Novella railway station in 20 minutes.

PARKING PONTE A GREVE:
This free parking is located in front of the Ponte a Greve shopping mall, near the “Firenze Scandicci” exit of motorway A1 and near the road Firenze-Pisa-Livorno.
It is very close to the tram stop and in 15 minutes you will reach Santa Maria Novella railway station.

PARKING FIRENZE CERTOSA:
This is a small free parking lot, right outside the exit “Firenze-Certosa” of the A1 highway and of the road Firenze-Siena. Catch bus number 37 and you will reach Florence historical center in about 20 minutes.

PARKING GALLUZZO:
This is a large free parking lot with a lot of places, located in a quiet residential area connected to Florence historical centre by buses number 36 and 37.

Beautiful Florence, in the heart of Tuscany is a wonderful place to visit. If someone who wishes to see this stunning place has no-one to travel with and they don't want to go alone there are tours for singles available enabling them to see the country and meet new people.

florence holidays for singles

Explore Florence

There are many adventures to be had in this popular and historic city. Visitors can marvel at the graceful architecture of the buildings and explore the wonderful museums and galleries. And they can wander around the shops too, of course! Florence has quality leather and paper goods as well as jewellery and art reproductions; anyone wishing to buy souvenirs for themselves and others will be spoiled for choice.

Known as the 'cradle of the Renaissance' Florence has so much to see and do even locals do not know about it all. Florence is of course home to the famous cathedral, the Duomo. There is also the Uffizi gallery, one of the world's top art museums and the Piazza della Signoria, which has been the scene of many important political events in Florence's history.

For those who are feeling fit there is the Campanile, the bell tower in the Piazza del Duomo. Climb the 414 stairs and if there is any breath left after doing so it will be taken away by the stunning views of the cathedral, Florence and its surroundings.

There are also guided tours of Florence which are free (although it is recommended to give a tip) and conducted by professional guides. There are two daily tours to choose from: the Renaissance Tour and Medici Family Tour and they take place at different times so it is possible to do both.

Of course if someone wishes to explore themselves, then the many beautiful piazzas are like open air museums, or there are various local markets in which to find anything a visitor could think of. And no trip to Florence would be complete without sampling some of the local gelato, or ice cream, which is said to be especially delicious.
For those who are  looking for an accommodation in Florence, we can suggest Florence Hotel Alba Palace.

See the Tuscan Countryside

As well as the city itself, the countryside around Florence is not to be missed. Explore it in a leisurely and eco-friendly way with a bike ride through the rolling Italian hills. For wine lovers, the region of Chianti can be found in Tuscany. It is possible to visit vineyards of the region and what better way to enjoy a good glass of wine than straight from the source, accompanied by delicious local food.

Travelling in Groups

Travelling in a group, whether small or large, can be more fun than travelling alone. There is always someone to talk to and do things with and if someone needs some alone time they can have it. Of course it is not always easy to find people to travel with. A person's other friends and family may not be able to travel for various reasons. Fortunately, there are adventure holidays for singles where like-minded people can meet others, making new friends along the way. These friendships can last even when the holiday is finished so someone has gained not only a life enriching travel experience but a wider social circle as well.

For those who have wanted to try real Italian food in the country itself and also want someone to share the experience with, a tour for singles is a good idea.
