The Davanzati Palace offers a beautiful example of Florentine merchant housing in the 14th century.
Being erected by the Davizzi’s family, probably portrayed in the courtyard’s capitelli, shows on the façade made of pietra forte ashlars, a linearity and rigueur that contrast with the movements of the arches and columns in the medieval courtyard.
At the ground floor, one can see the three grand arcades of wools’ shops and the windows show the original R-Shaped iron-rods where wools and silks were hung.
On the fourteenth century façade you will admire a loggia dating back to 1500.
The palace, house of the Museum of the ancient Florentine home, is closed since 1995 for structural problems.
